Nathalie Anderson has a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Music Education and a minor in Vocal Performance from Ball State University. She has performed in various
venues internationally including the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. She has directed and participated in many community musical events. She has taught piano and voice lessons for several decades and 4 years ago, picked up her French horn again to play
for the Carmel High School Parent Pep Band. She and her husband, Greg, have 2 children (ages 18 & 20) and they love making music as a family.

Rachelle Woolston, Soprano

Soprano Rachelle Woolston was born and raised in Houston, TX, and currently resides in Carmel. She holds a doctorate in voice from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Rachelle enjoys singing with several local performing arts organizations, including the Indianapolis Opera, Indianapolis Symphony Pops, Indianapolls Chamber Orchestra, Kokomo Symphony, VOCE, Carmel Theatre Company, and various church choirs. She teaches voice at Ball State University and Lawrence Central High School and loves singing in recitals with her bassoonist husband, PJ.

Dr. Shederick Whipple, tenor, has sung throughout the United States, Europe and South America. Some roles Dr. Whipple has performed include Tamino in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart), Ferrando in Così fan
Tutte (Mozart), and Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi (Puccini). In concert, Dr. Whipple has been soloist in
Requiem (Mozart), Messiah (Handel), and others.  Some solo venues include Indianapolis
Opera, Lexington Opera Theatre, Library of Fine Arts (Moscow, Russia), Teatro Sucre (Cuenca,
Ecuador), and the Bratislava Orchestra (the Czech Republic). Dr. Whipple is the Senior Development
Officer and Assistant Chorus Conductor of the Indianapolis Opera.

Pat Havens, Bass

Pat is a long-time staff singer in the choir of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Indianapolis, where he has had the opportunity to perform many solo roles, including works by Bach, Vaughn Williams, Handel, Duruflé and Stanford.  His musical training began at a young age in piano, flute and voice and he is currently a voice student of Jeff Ballard. His day job is as an environmental chemistry researcher at Corteva Agriscience.

If you think you’ve seen Chris somewhere before, you’re probably right! This Christmas season you can find Chris caroling with VOCE at the Carmel Christkindlmarkt and the Atheneum Foundation
Christkindlmarkt. She enjoys performing in choral ensembles in addition to VOCE, and in prior years,
performed in the chorus of Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (ICO) performance of “Fidelio”, and ICO’s Classical Christmas concert. She has been a section leader for the Messiah Sing Along for several years and finds that participating in this amazing collaborative event is the perfect way to prepare for
Christmas.
Chris has her BS in Accounting from Trine University and is an accounting consultant with SweetWork Consulting, LLC. She and her husband have 2 sons and 2 granddaughters.

Jackson Steuer is a junior vocal Music Education major at Ball State, and is studying voice under Dr. Rachelle Woolston. Jackson has been under many different performing ensembles, like Ball Sate’s chamber and concert choir, Roncalli high school’s varsity show choir and concert choir, and is vocal captain of the Ball State University Singers, Ball State’s collegiate show choir. Jackson greatly looks forward to performing in this celebration and wishes all listeners a Merry Christmas!

Ms. Falker has had many opportunities as a performer in opera and musical theatre productions
throughout her lifetime ranging from: The Indianapolis American Cabaret Production of Gershwin Time
and the Livin’ is Easy (Bess/Serena), Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Gondoliers (Victoria), The Pirates of
Penzance (Kate), Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel), at Indiana University School of Music and in Strauss’ Die
Fledermaus (Prince Orlofsky) at Illinois State University. Ms. Falker has performed in opera scenes such
as: Bizet’s (Carmen), The (Countess) in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, (Mimi) in La Boheme, (Agatha) in
Der Freischűtz and (Bess) from Porgy and Bess. In New York City Opera Scenes Productions, under the
direction of Joshua Green, then assistant director at the Metropolitan Opera, Ms. Falker performed in
Verdi’s Il Trovatore as (Leonora) and sang Arias in opera galas, and a solo recital at Harlem Hospital. Ms.
Falker was a featured soloist with the Danville Illinois Orchestra and on several occasions with the
Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at the Hilbert Circle Theatre. In Altenburg, Germany, Ms. Falker sang
Arias and Songs in Opera Gala and Lieder performances. She was a Chamber Singer with Illinois State
University touring England and Wales and served as a three-week Missionary as Lecturer, Voice Teacher
and Performer at the West African Advanced School of Theology in Lomé, Togo and Accra, Ghana. She
holds a Master’s Degree in Voice Pedagogy from IU School of Music, an Artist Diploma in Voice from IU-
South Bend and has taught Voice and Music at the Collegiate Level at Vincennes University, Ivy Tech
College, Martin University, IU South Bend and Holy Cross College.

Brendan Kennedy, tenor, was born and raised just north of Atlanta, Georgia. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at Ball State University. Brendan received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Georgia Southern University in 2023. He is currently a voice student of Dr. Rachelle Woolston and hopes to teach high school chorus after graduation in May.

Rebecca Connolly is a writer of romantic and historical fiction as well as a lifelong lover of music. She sings in the car regularly, doing all the parts whether in her range or out of it. She loves singing in her church choir and is excited to be branching out more.

Valerie grew up in New York in a musical family – both parents were avid chamber music players, her brother a pianist.  After college she worked as a free lance violinist in NYC for a few years before going to medical school.  She specialized initially in Neurology and then Neuro-ophthalmology, moving to Indianapolis in 1983 for a faculty position at IU.  Her three children have relocated, each with children of their own, but she’s still here, enjoying semi-retirement and playing with her long-time string quartet.

April received violin lessons as her Christmas gift at age 7 and was an early Suzuki Kid. She loves playing in orchestras that accompany choral groups, large and small, with the privilege to play masterworks from many musical periods. She is grateful to have played in concert halls and churches in the U.S. and Europe across several decades.

Len Cheatham, cello

Len Cheatham has performed as both soloist and orchestral musician across the U.S. He is currently
Principal Cellist of the Hendricks Symphony Orchestra. He has been a chamber music player with the
U. S. Navy String Quartet, the Kuralen Trio, as well as many other chamber groups. He has played as
Assistant Principal Cellist of the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Cellist of the
Mesa Symphony Orchestra and Raleigh Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed as a member of
the Symphony of the Southwest and the Eastern Music Festival Orchestra. In 2005 he founded the
Arizona Repertory Orchestra, a sightreading group, which performs an entire 2-hour program each
week in the summer, without rehearsal. He has studied with Takayori Atsumi, Cassell Grubb of
DePauw University, Orlando Cole of the New School of Music in Philadelphia, and Scott Ballantyne of
the Julliard School of Music. He holds a Bachelor of Music from DePauw University in Cello
Performance and has performed as soloist with the North Carolina Symphony, the Phoenix Symphony
and the Chandler Symphony. He also performed at the White House while a member of the Navy
String Quartet. He has won the Lima Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition and the Phoenix
Symphony Guild Young Musicians Competition, Grand Prize.
He enjoys gardening, working as a Webelos Cub Scout Leader, writing novels, composing music and
playing the best video game of all time, the stock market.

Ryan is a recent graduate of Brigham Young University, where he was a violinist in the BYU Symphony Orchestra and a member of the BYU Choirs. Currently, Ryan is an actuarial analyst for Milliman Indianapolis Health, and he and his wife enjoying spending time with their nearly one-year-old son.

Cyndia is a mom of four, a violinist, and a piano teacher. When she was a student at the Boston Architectural College, Cyndia had her first opportunity to play for a Messiah Sing-in. This will be her third year playing with the Carmel Messiah Sing-In orchestra. Cyndia loves the glorious feeling of playing such powerful music about Jesus Christ.

Tommy Washburn, trumpet

Tommy Washburn is a member of the Carmel congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a freshman trumpet player at Carmel High School. He has participated in the past two seasons of the high school’s marching band, which recently placed third in the country. He has been playing trumpet for the past four years and studies with Carrie Fleig. He also enjoys playing the piano, coding, and spending time with his pet rabbit, Brownie.

Jenny played the violin in high school and her first year of college. After taking a long a long break, she picked up the violin again a few years ago to start playing occasionally with her children and in some small local ensembles. She is excited to have the opportunity to play Handel’s beautiful music. She and her husband have eight awesome children they love spending time with.

Ethan Kline is currently a junior at Carmel High School and has been playing the trumpet for six years. During his short time as a student musician, Ethan has received numerous gold with distinction awards at State Solo and Ensemble. Additionally, he is a member of the Carmel High School Marching Band, which has won multiple national championships. Finally, Ethan is a member of the Indianapolis Youth Orchestra, where he enjoys playing with other musicians from the greater Indianapolis region. In his free time, Ethan also enjoys working on cars and looks forward to pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.
